Virat Kohli's journey from IPL 2016 to 2017: Hundreds, double hundreds and record-breaking run

Mar 22:After his record-breaking 973 runs in the Indian Premier League last season, Virat Kohli continued the good work on the international stage and enjoyed a brilliant run before hitting a bit of a low in the ongoing Test series against Australia. He has failed in all the five innings he played against Australia, scoring just 46 runs, with his highest being 15 in Bengaluru.
Kohli has been in the middle of a war not only on the field but off it too with the Australian media and former players taking sly digs at him, something that didn't happen for quite some time now, which might affect his batting.
But, before the Australia series he displayed fluent form and scored 1457 runs from 13 Tests versus the West Indies, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh. Kohli has been a runaway hit in Tests and has led his side with finesse to the top of the ICC rankings. He hammered four consecutive double centuries in four series and has performed whenever his team has needed him in the longest format of the game.
Kohli, along with Ashwin has been in sublime touch for India and has swept every opponent aside in this long home season - where India whitewashed New Zealand 3-0, followed by a 4-0 hammering of England and the one-off Test victory over Bangladesh.
n the shorter formats, as Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down earlier in the year, Kohli was handed over the baton ahead of the England series. And, didn't he get off to a flyer? He scored a fighting 122 in testing conditions against England in the first of the three ODIs, which India won by three wickets. Kohli also scored a hard fought 55 off 81 balls in Kolkata in the third ODI which went in vain as England won the match by five runs but India took the series 2-1.
Kohli failed to fire in the shortest format of the game however versus the Three Lions, mustering only 52 runs in three innings. But, he would be a happy man as India won the series 2-1 again.
Prior to that, India played five ODIs versus New Zealand and two T20Is against the West Indies in Florida.
He failed in Florida in the sole T20I that India played, opening the innings, he just scored 16 in the first T20. He failed to make amends as the other game was washed out. But, he came back with a bang in the ODI series versus New Zealand. He hit 358 runs in the five-match series against the Kiwis, that India won 3-2, including one hundred and two fifties. Agencies
