SCR GM inspects arrangements for Godavari Pushkarams at Rajahmundry

Hyderabad, July 21: South Central Railway General Manager P.K. Saxena undertook a extensive inspection and reviewed the arrangements made by SCR to handle the rush of rail passenger traffic for the ongoing Godavari Pushkarams at Kovvur, Godavari and Rajahmundry railway stations on Vijayawada Division on Tuesday.
The General Manager visited Kovvur railway station and made a thorough inspection of the additional passenger facilities/amenities provided for the convenience of the passengers. He inspected the drinking water arrangements and the toilet facilities set up to handle the rail passenger needs. He also checked the platforms and circulating area, waiting sheds etc., to ensure that the arrangements made for Pushkarams are to the extent of the additional requirements of the pilgrim traffic.
Saxena visited Godavari and Rajahmundry railway stations and inspected them. The General Manager laid stress on passenger facilities/amenities during his inspection at these two stations and interacted with the pilgrim passengers themselves to know their feedback and seek suggestions for any need. He spent time thoroughly checking the toilet facilities, sanitary condition and cleanliness works in place, booking offices, waiting sheds, temporary shelters on platforms etc. He also inspected the drinking water arrangements, in particular the provision of cooled drinking water at either end of platforms to serve the needs of passengers travelling in general compartments.
After the inspection, Saxena reviewed the arrangements for Godavari Pushkaram in Vijayawada Division at a meeting, during which Vijayawada Division Railway Manager Ashok Kumar briefed the General Manager on the entire arrangement plan implemented to handle the additional demands of passenger traffic including on the special trains, staff deployment, security arrangements etc., The General Manager advised the Divisional officials to continuously ensure that all the arrangements required be provided to the pilgrim passengers to afford convenience during their travel in the Pushkaram period.
