New Panchayat Raj Bill to be tabled in current budget session

Hyderabad, March 14 (INN): Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Jupally Krishna Rao informed that the new Bill on Panchayat Raj would be tabled in the current budget session.
Replying to a question raised by TDP member Sandra Venkat Veeraiah during Question Houir in Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the minister said that the State Government has already framed the rules and the elections to local bodies would be conducted as per new Act.
However, the Minister did not disclose whether the elections would held indirectly or directly saying that no such decision has been taken. He said the decision would be taken while keeping in view the interest of development in rural areas. He said new Panchayats have been created and some of them have been upgraded. He said that the State Election Commission has already started the process of preparing Voter List. (INN)
