Koil Sagar modernisation works to begin soon

Hyderabad, Mar 23 (INN):Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said the works on modernisation of Left and Right Canals of Koil Sagar Project would begin soon.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Alla Venkateswar Reddy in Legislative Assembly during Question Hour on Friday, the minister said that the proposals for modernisation of Right Main Canal (RMC) were under sanction while for LMC, administrative approval has been accorded by the government. The work will be grounded soon, by calling tenders, he said.
For RMC, the proposal consists of reconstruction of structures and remodeling of the Right Main Canal from Km. 0.000 to Km. 12.725 in order to enhance the discharge capacity of the canal from 180 cusecs to 387 cusecs to serve the total ayacut of 37,250 Acres (Old 9,000 + New 28,250 Acres). Similarly, for LMC, the proposal consists of CC lining of existing canal, extension, execution of distributor system and field channels for additional ayacut of 8,000 acres. Modernization of Right Main Canal will enable full and proper irrigation to the entire ayacut of 37,250 Acres (9000 old + 28,250 new) and the modernization of Left Main Canal will benefit in stabilizing the existing ayacut of 3000 acres and provide irrigation to the new ayacut of 8000 acres apart from the proposed original ayacut of 10000 acres i.e. total 21,000 Acres, the Minister said.
