Mahabubnagar, April 10:Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav announced on Monday that 54,50,000 sheep were distributed to Yadavs across Telangana, and beneficiaries of the State government's sheep scheme were able to breed sheep by producing 23,00,000 lambs, meeting the objective of the scheme. Srinivas Yadav participated in distribution of sheep feed and grass seeds to beneficiaries at Hanwada mandal on Monday, along with MLAs Srinivas Goud and Anjaiah Yadav. During his tour of the district, he has said 35 lakh Yadavs, above 18 years of age, would be eligible for the scheme and the government would continue to distribute sheep till the last beneficiary gets the sheep unit. He said the government was not only distributing sheep, but was also giving four bags of sheep feed to each beneficiary, in addition to sanctioning a sheep shed worth Rs 1 lakh to each beneficiary. He said even those Yadavs, who have not been given sheep, were eligible to procure grass seeds at 75 per cent subsidy from the government. The government was spending Rs 66.86 crore on making sheep feed available under subsidy. "The government's goal is to protect the interests of all Yadavs and Kurumas in Telangana so that they won't have to bow their heads in front of anybody in the future," he said, speaking at a public meeting at JJ Gardens in Mahabubnagar town. The meeting was a preparatory one ahead of a mammoth gathering of Yadavs to be held on April 29 at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. He also showered praise on Mahabubnagar MLA V Srinivas Goud by saying that anybody who wanted to understand government schemes needed to take Mahabubnagar as a model and that Goud had done so much work in just four years, which couldn't have been done by any other representative in 70 years.
