Hyderabad, July 16:Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao on Sunday said the TRS party's number one priority after winning the 2019 election will be to improve urban infrastructure in Telangana, indicating a shift in policy after the government's sharp focus on agriculture and rural economy in the first term.
The MA&UD Minister went live on Twitter for close to two hours, and while replying to a query, said that improving urban infrastructure will be the top priority not only in Hyderabad but in the entire State of Telangana.
Replying to a question from a Twitter follower on who will be the Chief Minister in 2019, the Minister was emphatic in saying it would be K Chandrashekhar Rao. This is for the second time that Rao interacted with the public on the social media platform Twitter after last December's live session.
During Sunday's interaction, Rao chose a wide a range of questions, which varied from developmental activities related to various sectors in the State to his personal tastes and preferences.
Candid replies
To tough questions, the Minister was candid in his replies. A follower asked him to name a thing that he felt could have been handled or done better with respect to Hyderabad in these four years. Rao immediately replied 'Roads'.
Many also asked about when the roads of Hyderabad will be repaired, to which Rao replied that repairing roads was an 'incessant endeavour'.
On the Warangal airport, the Minister said the State government was working on a proposal to build an airport and attract IT companies to Warangal.
To another query on inviting more IT companies to newer areas in Hyderabad, the Minister referred to Government's Look East Policy (LEAP), i.e. eastern parts of Hyderabad, including
LB Nagar and Uppal stretch.
Preferred portfolio
Rao also disclosed that his most preferred ministry was MA&UD because 'Urban development is more challenging and therefore more engrossing'. On the recent issue of externment of Kathi Mahesh and Swami Paripoornananda, the MA&UD Minister said that there will be no compromise when it comes to maintaining law and order.
The Minister was all praise for the recently launched Rythu Bandhu scheme. A follower asked the Minister to rank the best scheme in Telangana introduced by the TRS government. Rao was quick to reply 'Rythu Bandhu'.
