Hyderabad, Mar 13:TRS candidates for Rajya Sabha - J Santosh Kumar, B Prakash Mudiraj and B Lingaiah Yadav - filed their nomination papers at the State Legislature on Monday for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls scheduled for later this month.
The TRS nominees arrived at Gun Park to drumbeats and celebrations by the party cadre. Accompanied by party leaders and MLAs, the TRS nominees paid floral tributes at the Martyrs' Memorial. Later, they walked across the road and reached the office of the Returning Officer inside the Assembly premises to file their nominations.
Ministers Etela Rajender, T Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and G Jagadish Reddy were among the signatories proposing the candidature of the TRS candidates who filed two sets of nominations each.
The ruling party legislators congratulated the TRS nominees for Rajya Sabha even as the latter formally sought the vote of the legislators in the polling scheduled to be held on March 23.
Monday being the last day for filing nominations, Congress candidate Balaram Naik also filed his nomination. Though Congress does not have enough strength to get their candidate elected, they fielded one just to force an election. J Bhaskar also filed his papers as an Independent.
