Tighter security cover for 16 Metro stations

Vishwas News

Hyderabad, July 23:With Metro services set to commence on the Ameerpet-LB Nagar route next month, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) is beefing up security measures at the stations by deploying private security guards in addition to the police personnel.
Efforts are on to identify private security agencies to man the 16 stations from Punjagutta to LB Nagar. Each station will be manned by 12 private security guards and three police, including one Assistant Sub Inspector and two constables.
There will be two shifts and for each shift, different personnel will be deployed to guard the stations. Already, tenders had been floated to finalise the private security agencies, said an official from HMRL.
On the existing Miyapur- Nagole route covering 30 km, over 500 security personnel are guarding the 24 stations. In addition to the manual security arrangements, the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited has completed installation of surveillance cameras, door-frame metal detectors, hand-held detectors and other security equipment.
With four cameras in every coach and over 60 high resolution cameras at each station, Metro authorities are ensuring foolproof security arrangements. Apart from station premises, there will be surveillance in all the areas, including parking, viaduct and track, depots.
There will be surveillance cameras, sensors and alarms to monitor the unmanned areas. In addition to this, intrusion detection systems and anti-sabotage checking measures are also part of the security arrangements. Not to mention about the hand held metal detectors, he said.
All the footage from the surveillance cameras will be synchronised with Operation and Control Centre (OCC) in Uppal and with the police control room. Security personnel would constantly monitor the security aspects from the OCC, the official added.
Crucial Bhoiguda Metro ROB installed
Overcoming space constraints and handling the locational hurdles, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL) has successfully installed the crucial Bhoiguda Metro RoB on the Jubilee Bus Station and Falaknuma route. This is the last of the eight RoBs constructed by L&T for Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
Since the Metro Rail track takes a sharp left turn over the existing Bhoiguda Road Under Bridge (RuB), the 960 metric tonne Metro RoB had to be designed as a very wide steel bridge with 64 feet width and 40 feet height over the road level.
