Hyderabad, Mar 14:Government maternity hospitals in the State have seen a surge in institutional deliveries after introduction of KCR Kits scheme, Chief Whip in Legislative Council Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said on Tuesday.
Participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks in the Council, he said the State government has been strengthening the health sector by spending huge amounts. Before the introduction of KCR Kits scheme, the percentage of institutional deliveries was only around 30-33 per cent which had now crossed 50 per cent, he said.
Reddy, pointing out that nowhere in the country were residential degree colleges being set up by the government, said the TS government had started 53 new residential degree colleges in the State in the past four years. "Every year, the government is spending Rs 5,500 crore on various pension schemes. Around 45 lakh people have been covered under one or the the pension scheme in the State," he said.
Reddy congratulated Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for introducing the Farmers Investment Support Scheme for all the farmers in the State starting from April 20. "Earlier, farmers used to wait for their turn for fertilizers, seeds and pesticides, but under TRS rule, they are getting all agriculture inputs without facing any hardships," he said.
TRS member Naradas Laxman Rao said the Chief Minister was playing the role of a social engineer to transform the State into Bangaru Telangana. "The Chief Minister is committed to complete all irrigation projects to supply irrigated water to one crore acre of land," he said and hailed Chandrashekhar Rao's efforts to give a fillip to caste-based professions in the State.
Another TRS member MS Prabhakar also lauded the State government for the various schemes it had launched covering all sections of society. He said the State produced 101.29 lakh ton of food grains during 2016-17.
