Hyderabad, April 10:Telangana State Police Housing Corporation Limited registered a record turnover of Rs 220 crore for the financial year 2017-18, an increase of 95 percent as against the previous fiscal.
"It's a record and the credit goes to everyone in the corporation," said Damoder Koleti, who took over as Chairman of the corporation a year ago. Interacting with mediapersons here on Monday, he said the average turnover for 2015-16 and 2016-17 was Rs 113 crore.
The State government sanctioned a budget of Rs 464.46 crore, including Plan outlay of Rs 424.09 crore, to the corporation for the current fiscal, he said.
According to Damoder, the State government sanctioned Rs 375 crore for construction of 13 District Police Offices (DPOs) and two Commissionerates, comprising 90 component works in the newly-formed districts.
The corporation has so far taken up construction works pertaining to Police Academy, Central Prisons, 14 Police Battalion Complexes each on 100 acres and elite anti-terror organisation OCTOPUS training centres on 600 acres.
With the financial assistance from the Central government, it has also taken up construction of 30,000 police residential quarters, buildings of Director-General of Police, Intelligence, Crime Investigation Department, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Prisons, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Centre for Good Governance.
Works related to model police stations with an estimated cost of Rs 4.50 crore at Godavarikhani under Ramagundam Police Commissionerate limits are on. The government has sanctioned Rs 236.82 crore for construction of 103 police station buildings in various districts under 10 different schemes. Of this, 35 works have been completed and 68 were under progress.
Plans have also been chalked out to construct new residential quarters for police personnel as the existing quarters in various districts, including Hyderabad, were in a dilapidated condition. "If necessary, we will seek loans from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited for taking up construction work," Damoder added.
