Telangana DGP calls for citizen-friendly policing

Hyderabad, April 12:Congratulating police personnel for their efforts in effectively maintaining law and order since the formation of the State, Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy on Wednesday said Telangana police has succeeded in building confidence among citizens, investors, tourists and employees.
"Transformation of policing into citizen-friendly and citizen-centric across the State through uniform service delivery is the vision of Telangana police," he said while speaking at a workshop conducted at JNTU auditorium here. All officers of Inspector and above rank of all wings of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda police commissionerates took part in the day-long workshop on delivering of uniform services to citizens by all functional verticals.
During the interaction, Mahendar Reddy talked about improving the quality of living based on expectations of citizens. He said citizens would expect hassle-free life, dignity, consistency and reliability in delivery of police services, sense of safety and security. Based on expectations, the Station House Officer (SHO) along with his/her team should implement the same standard, system and process.
He further said citizens should experience the response, process, and feedback in all the police stations in a similar way. He also said people should not get hurt with the poor response and no difference should be made in responding to citizens based on their attire, quality of service delivered, and timely feedback on developments of the case.
Prevention of crime was the basic strategy adopted by city police with the help of technology, scientific methods and community engagement. He explained some of the crime preventive projects taken up in Hyderabad like 'Nenu Saitham', Community CCTV project, blue colts, patrol cars, geo-tagging of cameras and clues team.
