Russian envoy lauds 'dedicated' Telangana police

Vishwas News

Hyderabad, Mar 10:The Telangana State police on Friday won appreciation from the Russian Ambassador Nikolay Kudashev after it acted swiftly and helped Russian Embassy recover over US $42,500 from a city-based supplier of metal detectors.
According to Rachakonda police, K Ranga Babu, CEO of KRB-GEO, had entered into an agreement with the Russian Embassy for supply of metal detector equipment and had taken the amount. However, he had not only failed to deliver the equipment but also started to avoid the officials.
After their repeated efforts to contact Babu failed, the Russian Embassy approached the police.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said Babu had taken the money from the Embassy after agreeing to supply metal detector equipment and then stopped responding to their enquiries.
"Despite several efforts by the Embassy officials to contact him, Babu didn't respond. The officials approached us and lodged a complaint seeking action," he said.
Following orders from Bhagwat, special teams were constituted to trace Babu and finally located him in Guntur. And with the efforts of police, he remitted the entire amount to the Embassy on installment basis through bank transfer.
The action taken by the police in the case had the Russian Ambassador, Nikolay Kudashev writing to the Director General of Police M.Mahender Reddy and expressing gratitude to the State police for 'their dedicated work and invaluable assistance in solving the crime that affected the interests of Russian diplomatic mission'.
"Coordinated actions of the staff members substantially contributed to the level of trust between two nations and once again reaffirmed the strategic and privileged nature of partnership between Russia and India," he said.
The Russian Embassy also thanked the police for prompt and efficient response and ensuring the return of 'stolen Russian property'.
In the letter that was handed over to the DGP by Igor Boldyrev, Second Secretary, Vice-Consul, Embassy of Russian Federation in India, Kudashev appreciated Assistant Inspector General (L&O) Ramesh Masthipuram, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat and other officials concerned for resolving the case in a small span of time.
