Purification drive of urban land records in Telangana soon

Hyderabad, April 10:After the successful completion of phase I of purification and updation of revenue records in the State, the government is now keen on starting the exercise in urban pockets of the State, Chief Secretary Dr S K Joshi said here on Monday.
The Chief Secretary was speaking at a review meeting at his Secretariat chambers with Revenue and Finance Department officials on land purification and Rythu Bandhu schemes.
He congratulated the revenue officials for effective completion of phase I of the land purification and updation drive from September 15 to December 31 in all the villages of the State. During the extensive drive, 93 per cent of land details were recorded and officials had not only updated the records on time but had also computerized land details pertaining to 2.56 crore acres during the drive.
Appeal for extra care
Joshi directed the Revenue officials to carry out a similar exercise in urban areas under phase II of the land purification campaign. "During the second phase, details of all urban lands across the State would be updated and computerized. The date of commencement of the drive will be announced soon," the Chief Secretary said, adding that along with the urban land purification, officials should also conduct purification drive for Endowment and Wakf lands. "Revenue officials should take extra care in the second phase since it involves complications," he said. He said that after completion of the second phase, all the land details of both rural and urban Telangana will be available on the new 'Dharani' website. Special staff will be allocated to update the website from time to time based on citizens' requirements. The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of printing of 'Rythu Bandhu' cheques. Under the scheme, the government will pay Rs 4,000 as investment assistance to farmers per acre, per crop from kharif season. He urged the Principal Secretary (Finance) Ramakrishna Rao to regularly monitor and contact bankers to ensure that the cheques are printed and transported to villages well before the scheduled launch of the scheme. On printing of new pattadar passbooks, the CS asked the Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) Rajeshwar Tiwari to consult printing agencies and ensure that the printing of passbooks is completed as per schedule.
