Vishwas News

Hyderabad, Feb 10:Osmania University continues to score big in ratings and rankings, which are done by various institutions every year. In the recent UK-based Times Higher Education Rankings, Osmania University figured in the top 1,000 universities of the world.
In the rankings, the university was placed between 800 and 1,000 ranks while last year too, it was in the same bracket. The World University Rankings, which are considered to be most widely observed university measures, also came up with top universities in Asia and India. Osmania University fared well in those rankings as well.
In the Asia University Rankings, the university was ranked between 250 and 300 ranks while in the Best Universities in India category, it was ranked 18th in higher education.
The university was placed in the ranking band of 800 and 1,000 with 33.9 score in teaching, 8.4 in research, 14.5 in citations, 32.0 in industry income and 15.1 in international outlook.
The scores in teaching, citations and international outlook increased in comparison to last year, while research and industry income decreased showing the trend in downsizing in research funding by the major funding agencies.
The Higher Education Rankings said the university had in all 12,017 students in its rolls, 15.5 students for a faculty member and female students to male students ratio is 29: 71 while international students constitute three per cent of the overall student strength.
