Hyderabad, May 9:To improve emergency health services across the State, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy on Tuesday flagged off a new fleet of '108' ambulance vehicles from the Nizam College Grounds here.
The new fleet of 145 ambulances will replace the same number of old ambulances in the existing fleet of 316 ambulances. Last year, 145 new ambulances were added to the fleet, replacing old vehicles.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said the new fleet of ambulances would improve emergency healthcare in the State.
"We are giving utmost importance to mobile health services. We earlier launched the '102' ambulance services exclusively to cater to pregnant women and newborns," Reddy said.
This apart, government has introduced 108 bike ambulances which have been serving well in the streets of the city, he said adding that several two-wheelers were handed over to Auxillary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) for providing treatment in rural parts of the State.
Reddy went on to say that as part of the launch of new ambulances, 60 vehicles were equipped with advanced life support equipment. Efforts were on to provide these kinds of facilities in more ambulances, he said, adding that plans were afoot to increase the number of hearse vehicles, which were currently 50 in number.
Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy lauded Health Minister and said that health sector in the State had improved a lot. "Upon the instruction of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, we are conducting eye test for everyone in the State," he said.
He said that they were readying health profile for public on the lines of foreign countries and the treatment can be provided anywhere in the State by seeing health profile of the patient.
Later, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said the government had recently provided various equipment worth Rs 18 crore in MNJ Cancer Hospital. "Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is providing advanced facilities in government hospitals for the benefit of the public," he said.
