Hyderabad, May 16:West Zone Task Force police nabbed a youngster on charges of cheating job aspirants after promising them jobs as junior assistants in Mandal Revenue Office (MRO) here on Tuesday. Cash of Rs 3.8 lakh, fake identity cards and appointment letters were recovered.
The arrested person was identified as G.Prakash Varma alias Prakash (27), a private employee and resident of Padma Nagar Ring Road near Suchitra Junction.
According to the police, Prakash's mother was a community health officer in Health Department. After she passed away in 2013, he tried to take up her job, but failed. During the process, he came in contact with officials from various government departments, and later, he used their names to cheat job aspirants promising junior assistant jobs in MRO offices based on Group-II notification of 2016, police said.
"He also created a fake identity card as a junior assistant in the Revenue Divisional Office by attesting his photo. He informed job aspirants that he had good contacts with officials and collected money ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh from each of them," police said.
Officials said he gave fake appointment letters to eight persons and collected a total of Rs 12 lakh. He asked them to go to the MRO office at Khairatabad with the appointment letters. It was there that they realised they were cheated.
