Hyderabad-based foundation helps mapping of CSR projects in Telangana

Vishwas News

Hyderabad, May 30:While Telangana is one of the fast growing State in terms of corporate social responsibility projects implementation, yet there is huge gap in the demand and supply of these projects.
Recent reports point to the fact that in terms of schools, while there are some areas where there is high concentration of schools there are others where there are no schools for almost six to seven kilometers.
In order to address this gap, Hyderabad-based Surge Impact Foundation is working on providing technological support to not only corporates but also to the government to improve CSR activity in the State.
Founded by Raj Janagam and Ravi Mantha, the foundation helps startups in the space of social enterprises from ideation to growth. The framework of the foundation is on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and it wants to make social startups not only become profitable but also get all the support in terms of funding, mentorship, business coaching, workshops and 18 different issues. Taking cue from their work in the last five years, Surge Impact got in touch with the Telangana government to help them scale up the CSR activities happening in the State.
As part of the partnership, the company is working on building an online platform wherein all the stakeholders - corporates, government and non-profit organisations - will get access to the data on different projects happening and areas where more projects are needed.
"The data that we are collating will indicate if the project needs more funding, technological support and/or any other kind of support. This will help all stakeholders in making an informed decision," Janagam told.
Apart from the online platform, the foundation will also be conducting offline activities of getting all stakeholders together to do a due diligence on the projects done so far on a quarterly basis.
Currently, Surge Impact is working with various district collectors to get data on various projects in the field of SDGs and also with corporates to know about their CSR activities. The platform, according to Janagam, should be up and running in the next few weeks.
The five-year-old foundation has on-boarded about 25 companies that it helps in getting funding and provide other kinds of support. It has also collaborated with International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, to work with social entrepreneurs that leverage technology to make their impact. In terms of total funding as a network, Surge Impact has put in Rs 2 crore till now.
