Hyderabad, Mar 30:The Valedictory Function of the Higher Defence Management Course - 12 (HDMC-12) was held at College of Defence Management in Secunderabad on Thursday. Chairman - Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba had delivered the valedictory address on this occasion.
The HDMC-12 course which commenced on May 30 last year, with 150 selected participants of the rank of Colonel or equivalent, was also attended by participants from foreign countries such as Bangladesh, Nigeria, Iran, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
The participants received a certificate of Advanced Course in Management by the All India Management Association and a Masters in Management Studies (MMS) degree from the prestigious Osmania University on the completion of the course.
In his welcome address, the chief guest Rear Admiral Dushyant Singh Chouhan, Commandant of CDM highlighted the activities of the past academic year and complimented the participants for their creditable performance. He also hoped that the course curriculum has succeeded in stimulating effective management thought processes, which would build operational effectiveness among the participants and enhance their performance in the Armed Forces.
Congratulating the out-going graduates, Rear Admiral Dushyant Singh Chouhan said that seeking and responding to emerging challenges before they can manifest themselves as a threat of any consequence, is the need of the hour.
"This crystal-gazing needs to be supplemented by an ability to recognise threats through good understanding and ability to analyze manifestations, it must further be complemented by an ability to evolve our responses through good governance," said Rear Admiral Dushyant Singh Chouhan.
He expressed his confidence that the training in identifying cognitive biases during the course would serve the participant officers well and enable them to take timely and positive action oriented decisions in their position as senior military leaders.
The course is a major milestone in the academic annals of the College of Defence Management at Secunderabad, which is a premier tri-Services institution.
