Harish Rao meets Nitin Gadkari to discuss clearance of projects

Hyderabad, Sept 8:Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday met Union Minister for Water Resource Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and discussed about the funding and clearances for various ongoing projects.
Rao explained that the State government had taken up construction of Kaleshwaram, Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme and Sriram Sagar Sagar Project (SRSP), among other irrigation projects, on a mission mode with the objective of providing irrigation water to one crore acre in the State.
Informing the Union Minister that works at all the projects were moving ahead at jet speed, he said beside major and minor irrigation projects the State, the government had also taken up rejuvenation of village tanks under Mission Kakatiya to not only improve ground water levels but also supply water for irrigation.
Harish Rao brought to Gadkari's notice the water grid project taken up under Mission Bhagiratha aimed at supplying drinking water to each and every household by January next year.
The Minister appealed to Gadkari to ensure release of funds for the irrigation projects besides giving clearances. Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) party floor leader in Lok Sabha A P Jithendher Reddy, who accompanied Harish Rao, requested the Union Minister to release funds for four-laning of Jedcherla-Mahabubnagar road.
Reddy said the Union Minister responded positively to Harish Rao's request and assured that a meeting will be held soon with the officials concerned.
