EAMCET, DOST certificates to be verified online in Telangana

Vishwas News

Hyderabad, May 9:For taking all common entrance tests online, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education and the Commissionerate of Technical Education have decided to verify certificates online.
From this year, the verification of certificates for admissions through the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) and Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST) will be done online.
This facility will be available for students who have Aadhaar linked mobile numbers. During registration for counselling, the candidates need to verify their mobile number linked to Aadhaar through a one-time password. At the time of registration, the candidates need to provide details such as caste certificate number and income certificate number among other details.
The system will automatically transfer the data to the departments concerned for verification.
Candidates who do not have mobile number and an Aadhaar link have to visit any of the 74 helpline centres which are set up across the State for verification.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Navin Mittal, Commissioner of Technical Education, said the candidate's name on the intermediate hall ticket and Aadhaar card has to be matched at the time of registration. If there is a mismatch of name, candidates can approach any one out of the 74 helpline centres for registration and certificate verification.
Mittal said starting from this year, both counselling systems of EAMCET and DOST would be linked.
"Some students get admission in engineering and also in a degree college. By linking the systems, if candidates get a seat in engineering and degree as well, they will be asked to choose one. If they opt for an engineering course, the degree seat will go vacant and vice-versa," he said.
Prof. T Papi Reddy, Chairman, TSCHE, said the new system would help in the admission counselling of EAMCET and DOST.
