Development of Agri sector our top priority: Dy CM

Peddapalli/Jagtiyal, May 17:Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali opined that to brighten the lives of farmers, the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao has been introducing farmer welfare schemes in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister along with Irrigation Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Peddapalli MP Balka Suman, Farmers' Coordination Committee State president Gutta Sukender Reddy distributed cheques and passbooks to farmers.
They participated in Rythu Bandhu programmes in Manthani of Peddapalli district and Pegadapalli of Jagitial district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali said the Chief Minister, who personally experienced the problems of farmers in the past 14 years of Telangana agitation, has been implementing schemes to protect agriculture sector and interests of farming community.
Both Congress and TDP parties had ruled the State after formation of Andhra Pradesh, but they neglected Telangana region. However, a lot of development was done by the TRS government during the last four years.
Giving top priority to agriculture sector after formation of Telangana, a number of schemes have also been introduced diverting the attention of the entire nation. Even though it is the youngest State, Telangana is in top position in growth rate, Deputy Chief Minister informed. Agriculture Minister informed that all regimes right from Rama Rajayam to Kiran Kumar Reddy's government collected cess from farmers, but the TRS government has been giving Rs 4,000 to farmers to produce crops. No State in the country has such kind of facility.
Informing that Rs 6,000 crore were deposited in the banks to distribute to farmers, he said there was no need to hurry as cheques would be valued up to three months.
In order to fill SRSP project through reverse pumping system by lifting water from Kaleshwaram project, government has taken up SRSP renovation project. Everyday, half tmc water would be dropped in SRSP canal from August by completing three of six pumps.
Water woes of SRSP farmers would be solved once the project was completed. The government was committed to provide irrigable water to one crore acres in the next two years period by completing all irrigation projects, he said.
