Hyderabad, May 22:Chief Electoral Officer Rajath Kumar appealed to citizens, who attained 18 years on January 1, 2018 to enroll their names in the electoral rolls.
In Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, people can call 1950 for enrollment of their names and also to know the details of the electronic photo identity card information.
The CEO stated that booth level officers will visit every household to check and verify the inclusion and deletions of the voters.
"This is a continuing process so that the citizens can avail this opportunity to enroll their names," said Kumar.
On Monday, the Chief Electoral Officer and District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy launched the voter registration campaign to create awareness about the importance of voting. 'Campaign at Your Door Step' was conducted at Begumpet.
Reddy said municipal corporation officials had trained booth level officers for effective role to play for the inclusion and deletion of the names in the electoral list.
GHMC has also created the 'myghmc' app in the recent past where over three lakh citizens have downloaded the app with 'good results' to solve their representations pertaining to various civic related issues, he said.
"This GHMC app will also provide an online facility to register their names through the app in the electoral rolls in the coming days," said Reddy.
The GHMC will also take the services of retired officials and involve them to create awareness and give them the responsibility to work as booth level officers to increase overall percentage of voting in the coming days, said a press release.
